We love to live life with a passion for fashion and fun, and we are in love with the idea of loving everyone from all walks of life.
Our amazing content writer, Daniel Walters is heading off to New York City and we had a chance to sit down with him and learn a little more about him his career path and some FUN things to know. Daniel is still making time to write for us when he is in the Big Apple and we know with the inspiration that comes from the BIG CITY we will have very fashion forward content.
Thanks Daniel, we will miss you!

I actually fell into modeling by accident. Acting had always been a passion of mine from an early age so at 14, I felt that I was overdue for my first actor headshot. I sought out a highly recommended photographer in Mobile, Toni Riales, and had my very first photoshoot. Following that, I was approached by Barefoot Models and Talent for not only acting but also modeling, which was an industry I had not even considered until this point. Soon after signing with this agency, acting auditions seemed to be take a backseat as modeling go-sees and auditions began to take precedence. I began spending more time in front of the camera from a model perspective and quickly fell in love with this industry, so much so that I actually became the personal assistant to Toni Riales. From this experience I not only grew as a model but also in the other factors that play into the fashion industry. There are many more facets to it that I never knew existed. Modeling has become my primary plan, which I hope to continue with and expand to larger markets, from New York to Europe. While I am grateful more my modeling skill set, I know that it is a brief career plan. Fortunately, the opportunities that have been presented to me, from writing to creative directing, have allowed me to invest in a separate skill set that I see myself thriving in, long after my modeling endeavors have come to a close.

I absolutely love being a contributor to Lotus Boutiques. Writing and fashion are both major facets within my life, being a basis for much of my personal identity and the fact that I can hone in on these skills while bettering both myself and Lotus Boutique is an awesome opportunity.

Now, lets get to some fun questions for Daniel!

1. Favorite Fall Trend: This season, back is black and in a big way. In my personal opinion, black is everything and absence, all at the same time. There is nothing more chic than this haute hue.
2. Favorite Clothing Line: Lately, I have been in love with Saint Laurent. Laurent truly grasps the idea that fashions fade but style is eternal and this ultimately illuminates through their timeless esthetic. Also, I am a sucker for the perfect pair of chelsea boots and whimsical wild child motif that Saint Laurent plays so well.

3. Celeb Crush: As boring as this may sound, there is not a single celebrity that truly does it for me. While I’m not ruling out the celebrity scene, I just don’t see anyone in Hollywood currently that truly implants a spark within me.

4. Bow Tie or Skinny Tie: Personally, neither! Of course I value the importance in dressing well. However, I prefer to impose my personal disposition on style through other elements.

5. Favorite Pantone Color: While black is my go-to hue, Aurora Red would have to be my favorite Pantone color. Simply because it is such a radiantly rich and passionate shade that stands out as the perfect statement for this season.

6. Fashion Icons: This is a hard one. Can I pick two? Okay, firstly, Carrie Bradshaw because, to be honest, on my best days, I likely to pretend that I am her male equivalent. Though she may be a fictitious phenomenon, she is everything I aspire to be. No shame! Hah. Secondly, Iris Apfel and James Dean are also primary benefactors to my sense of personal style. Both paved the way and forever changed the fashion industry of today in unique aspects.

7. Favorite Person in History: I have always sensed a magnetism towards the author, Oscar Wilde. Mainly due to his unapologetic personality and genuine grasp on the world around him, which he immortalized through his writing, creating relevance years after his passing. Like myself, he was devoted to the pursuit of perfection and aspired to inspire in any way that he could.

8. PC or Mac?: That’s an easy one. Mac; all day, every day!

9. What got you into fashion? Being raised by a mother who is practically Barbie, all of my best memories include her and her sensational sense of style. Growing up, it was always infused into me that a sense of style is an essential form of expression and conveying who you are without ever having to speak.

10. Fashion Advice: If there is one piece of advice that I can share with other style enthusiasts is the notion that life is entirely too short to be spent in boring clothing. If you like it, wear it and do so unapologetically.

Meet our newest photographer…. and the BAND!

* When was your band founded?
- 2009.
- It started with just Steven (vocals/guitar), Brian (vocals/banjo) and me (vocals). We’ve grown a lot since then!
* What style of music would you call your bands style?
Southern Americana Rock n Roll (with war paint)
* When did you find your passion for photography?
- Around 2008 during college. I was shooting with a 35 mm film camera, styling my friends and taking them on adventures. I never thought of it as a career,  I just did it for the love of it. A few people started asking me to take their photos so I would shoot a couple of rolls of film on a subject. I realized I loved shooting people more than anything, and that i wanted to create beautiful images with human subjects. I’m not wired to sit in a cubicle.

* What do you hope to bring to Lotus Boutique?
- Through working with models, boutiques, designers, magazines, MOBFW and other creatives, I’ve developed an understanding of fashion photography that I hope to portray in my shoots with Lotus. Fresh, lively photography that showcases how awesome the products are. When I buy an item of clothing I’m not just thinking “oh this looks cute.” I’m thinking about where I’ll be wearing it, what I’ll be doing, the fun I’ll be having, who I’ll be with, the looks I’ll get. Fashion is part of life. Lotus is a part of a fashionista’s lifestyle.

* What has been your most successful and well received image to date?
- I have my favorites for sure, and I know other people have theirs. I recently had an editorial published in Elegant Magazine (see below) and those photos were well-received. I’ve included a few other favorites.

* When are you happiest? When you are shooting or when you are singing?
- I love both! It brings me joy to perform, travel with my friends and sing the songs we’ve written to people who sing along! And hearing your music on the radio is a pretty amazing feeling.
Photography is something that I have worked really hard on and it’s crazy to be able to say that I am self-employed! I am elated when I put together a shoot and the finished product is just what I wanted. When I was published in an international magazine recently, I couldn’t explain the joy I felt. It’s also an incredible feeling to see your work getting better. I hope to never stop learning and improving.
“I’m very blessed to be able to do what I love in many aspects of my life.”

1. What’s your favorite fashion trend this season?
-I’m all about a wide brimmed hat. (as you can see) And all the 90s vibes in recent fashions.
2. Favorite makeup line?
-I love MAC. Their lipstick is amazing, and I also use their lightful skincare line. Also, my favorite makeup artists that I use for fashion are with MAC. Mary Green has worked with me a jillion times.
3. Movie Star CRUSH?
-Adrien Brody & Kit Harrington (Jon Snow from GOT) *swoooooon*
4. Vampire or Werewolf?
-Vampire. The classic vampire that bursts into flames in the sunlight, it does not sparkle.  None of that Twilight bullshit. (you can edit)
5. Favorite Pantone Color of all time?
-Can I say black? ;)
6. Fashion Icon?
-So many! I’d say a mix of Audrey Hepburn & Iris Apfel. I can’t pick a favorite person because I’m inspired constantly by amazing women (and men) in every decade! The wonderful thing about fashion is that you can combine so many decades of style and make your own. That’s the fun!
7. Most important woman in history?
- Beyonce
8. PC or MAC?
-Mac. It makes my mind less chaotic.
9. What got you in to blogging?
- My love for fashion photography and how many clothes I own. I need to blog more, but it’s hard to take the time to shoot myself when I’m always shooting others! I also wanted to point the camera at myself. It helps to do that every now and then so you can better relate to your models and help direct them.
10. Any Fashion Advice?
- Dress for your body type. Just because something is trendy, doesn’t mean you have to wear it. Accentuate your best assets and learn what flatters your body and makes you feel and look great! And for those people who can wear anything, dress to fit your style and display your personality. Fashion is another creative outlet for you to have fun with.
Ok, so if you had to choose the most amazingly addicting kind of social media, what would you pick? Easy answer: Pinterest! Pinterest opens up our minds and picks our brains for any and all crafty ideas and shows us bits of fashion that make us swoon with wistfulness! We scroll and scroll and scroll until our eyes burn and we STILL can’t get enough of the savvy style sharing that goes on within this fabulous website.
Well, we all know how fantastic Pinterest is. Want to know how much more fantastic it just became?!
We just found out that you can chat on Pinterest, and even have group chatting messages! After looking over this article, we’ve decided that we’re about to have a whole new kind of addiction to one of our favorite social media sites!
So this is how the messaging goes…
First, hover your mouse over the pin you’re hoping to send on to your friend and it will look like the Mint and Orange Romper picture below.

Once you’ve hovered long enough to see the Pin it and Send links, click the send link and it will come up with a box for you to type in the name of your friend who you’d like to send the pin to! It should look a little something like this…

Click on their name and then you’ll see the picture of the pin move above a text box where you’ll say whatever’s on your mind to your Pinterest pal!

After typing your message, just hit the Enter button on your keyboard and your message will send and appear in a dark grey color, and now all you do is wait for your fellow pinner to write back!

If you want your message to minimize so that you can continue browsing, just click the little bubble to the bottom left of the chat box and it will minimize.
